As you may have heard by now, November is NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month. I participated the past two years, last yer for the first official time, and I actually won last year with a few days to spare! So, of course, I have to try to defend my victory this year, so I'm probably going to disappear until December. I'm only saying a semi-hiatus because there are probably going to be plenty of times when I'm so sick of writing that I want to take a Sims break, so I may post here once or twice. Plus, I want to at least acknowledge my second year anniversary! I can't believe that I've had this journal almost two years, and the Dasani legacy has been running for almost two years, yet I've barely started the fourth generation in-game. Maybe this time next year it'll finally be done...
Anyway, good luck to all writers this year! If you want to be writing buddies, my account is thefairylights. Hopefully this time next month I'll be done and ready to return to Sims and a normal life...

Fail

I just realized that I spent the last Woodhaven update calling Cody Longshore "Cory." Maybe that's a sign that I can't handle this many Sims.
Oh well, I'm too lazy to fix it all, especially if the new LJ posting craziness only messes it up further. If you're confused, just remember that his name is Cody, not Cory, and that I'm just going crazy, rather than you.

I am seriously crazy, but I just started a BACC. What can I say - I'm a follower, and I enjoy starting new projects way too much. I might put up the introduction post later tonight, but right now LJ is screwed up for me and I'm having trouble posting stuff - today it looks weird when I'm composing the post, yesterday it wouldn't even show up. What's wrong, LJ?!

Secret?

I was looking at [livejournal.com profile] simsecret earlier, like I normally do on Friday (I don't really want to participate in the drama that always seems to be there, but it can be very interesting to watch anyway), and this secret caught my eye:

I may be mistaken, but that icon in the bottom left corner looks likemy icon, doesn't it? I got really, reall excited and immediately saved the secret to get a closer look and put a spiffy little border around the icon! (Yes, I really did look at all the tiny icons to see if mine was on it - I didn't expect to find it, but I couldn't stop myself from looking anyway!) Of course, my excitement could be messing with my eyes, but I really do think that's my icon, and all I can say is: THANK YOU! Whoever you are, you are awesome, too. And, if I'm making it all up in my mind, at least I got these happy feeling for now. :D

After seeing [livejournal.com profile] simtopi's 2011 Sims Resolutions, I wanted to do my own. I'm not sure if I'll achieve any of them because I don't always have time for Sims, but at least I'm willing to try!

Just a quick note to say that I re-did the Dasani family tree and I added all the new people of the third generation. Yay for progress! Now I just need updates of everything else...

I've had these pictures for a while, from when I made over the Caliente house for the next chapter of Finding Beauty, and since I haven't updated in a few weeks I decided now's as good a time as any to show them, just as a little preview of Finding Beauty (although this has nothing to do with what's going to happen...)

update

Wow, I'm getting really bad at this updating thing, aren't I? I was going to show a small little picspam of this restaurant I made for the next chapter of Finding Beauty (yes, I am still working on stuff, I just haven't gotten it up yet!), but when I closed out of Sims I noticed the picture I took of the exterior was black and I didn't feel like going back into the game just to get that picture so I plan on doing that sometime this weekend and showing it and hopefully updating some other stuff. I have enough pictures for the next update of the Dasanis but I haven't finished editing the pictures and I'm trying to make the cover image but I just can't get it right. I like some other people's but I don't want to copy it completely, but at this point I think I may have to, because otherwise I'm never going to get this update up. But I also have the first part of the next chapter for Finding Beauty done, so I just need to get the other scenes done, edit them, and write them, so hopefully that'll be up sometime this month. I'm not sure when the Irises are going to be updated next, though, because I went to play them and I just got frustrated I want to move them into a bigger house I made for them and start the next generation already, but they don't have enough money and there's probably two weeks until Amethyst grows up. I'm thinking about just aging them up already so that I can get a move on the next generation and finally update, but as long as I have other stuff to worry about I'm just ignoring it for now...
So, there should be some sort of an update this weekend, and hopefully there'll be at least one big update this month, but I don't want to make promises that I may not be able to keep. But I promise to try!
And if you want to find me in a place where I tend to be a tad more active, check out [livejournal.com profile] thefairylights (my personal journal) or [livejournal.com profile] chaoticmiracles (my icon community).

UNDER CONSTRUCTION: I'm trying to add more stories to the list, in the meantime here are the old ones plus a list of the stories I plan on adding.
As I've begun reading some Sims stories instead of just Sims legacies, I decided to make another list, this one of stories I read. I'll write little descriptions about the stories along with their current statuses, to help you!

Yes, Rosewood is going on a sort of hiatus. I'm still going to update it, but it's going to be just as slow as it currently is (meaning probably a couple months between updates) or slower, depending on how busy I am. Rosewood just isn't catching my interest right now - I'm having more fun playing with the Dasani family, plus a Sims neighborhood that I'm working on decorating, although I don't think I'm going to show it on here until it's done, plus I want to possibly start a Sims 2 story with some original Maxis characters, as I mentioned in a previous post. This summer is already going to be a little busy with homework and other stuff, so I don't want to devote all my time to playing Sims, especially if I'm forcing myself to play Rosewood, because then the updates are going to be crappy because I don't really care.
I'm still going to continue to update the Dasani Legacy, and hopefully at the pace I've had for the last few. I'm also thinking of starting another legacy, because I do want another project, I just don't really feel like playing Rosewood as that other project for now. If I do start another legacy (which, at this point, I'm about 90% sure I will), I don't want to just do a legacy, I want to do a special kind (like rainbow, awesimsauce, isbi, etc.), I'm just not sure what. I really doubt that it's going to be an ISBI though, because once I tried that and my Sims nearly died - I'm just not go at leaving them to their own devices too much. If there's a certain kind you'd like to see, just let me know!
I'm off to play the Dasanis right now - I already have about forty pictures for the next update, and I'm only halfway through sophomore year! But I refuse to drop out the heir yet - especially since I'm not quite sure who that's going to be yet!
saveourpeeps: (I danced with you once upon a dream...)

I decided to copy the idea many other Sims legacy writers have and create a list of legacies that I read. This'll both help me and hopefully help those who are always looking for new legacies to read. I'll try to update this as much as possible, and make sure all the information, like if the legacy's fine or on a hiatus or something, is up-to-date.
If some of these descriptions seem to be saying the same thing over and over again, that's because I happen to enjoy reading legacies that are funny and pretty to look at, which is why so many of these legacies fall into that category, although there are some exceptions. If you don't enjoy this type of legacy, then you should probably not read this, because it just won't be your cup of tea. But, if you like witty commentary and adorable Sims, then this is the list for you!

Story Idea

saveourpeeps: (Save the peeps!)
Don't worry, I am working on editing pictures for the next Dasani and Rosewood updates, I'm just not quite ready - hopefully I'll have the next updates for both in the next couple of weeks. But, in the meantime I've been working on a private project of my own, along with enjoying reading other people's stuff. I've been really obsessed with [livejournal.com profile] simtopi and her story. It's sort of inspired me to possibly write my own Sims story, although I was sort of leaning towards a story about some Maxis characters, mostly the ones from Pleasantview - I'm slightly obsessed with that neighborhood!
I'm trying to make a neighborhood just for the story, but that's not the problem - I don't know if I can find some uploaded copies of all the orignial Maxis characters somewhere on the Internet, or if I should just try to make Sims who could pass for the original, which I'm sort of leaning towards.
Whatever I do, I'll try to do it soon. And it may not be on this journal - I was sort of thinking of possibly making a little person community just to post those stories there, so that it doesn't get too crowded here. Plus, this journal is mostly for legacy and other Sims challenges, and not an actual story.
Right now, I'm still not completely sure if I'm going to go through with it - it's a big project, and I don't want to put the Dasanis and Rosewood on a hiatus, plus I sort of wanted to start another legacy, but I'm forcing myself not to until I'm farther in the Dasanis and I possibly put Rosewood on a hiatus, because all three would be a little much. But, like I said, right now I don't have any definite plans. I'm also busy with plenty of real life stuff, like the end of school soon, and with it exams. So I'm not going to be very free to do everything I want to do right away, which means that updates for my stuff might be a tad spread out. But I will do my best to update soon! And I'll post any news about the story if I make any decisions!
saveourpeeps: (Default)
Sorry for not having an update yet. I've had school and an after-school thing, but that's over now and Thanksgiving break is soon. I hope to have an update during break. Right now I have enough pictures for another update, the only problem is putting them in order and writing for them.
And I got Bon Voyage working, so I now have all my games working, which'll make playing a lot better!
saveourpeeps: (Default)
I uninstalled all of my Sims 2 stuff to start over fresh for my new legacy, and everything was going fine. But when I tried to reinstall The Sims 2 Bon Voyage, I found out that I couldn't find the packet that has the code. I still have the CDs, but I can't figure out what the code is without the packet. Is there anyway I get reinstall without the code, especially so that I don't have to buy another copy of Bon Voyage? Any advice would be great!
