The Porter Family: Week Three

Since it's been almost half a year (at this rate, we'll be lucky if we see the first generation of kids have their own families, let alone get any farther), here's a little refresher of what happened last time: Violet was pregnant for a second time and finally had a girl, Brooke, who's only the second girl to be born in Woodhaven. The twins grew up into kids and had fun hanging out with their dad and each other. Violet got a job in the Education career, which was unlocked thanks to the twins becoming children. Things ended by showing the adorableness of the family. Not much else happened, since there isn't really any drama going on in this family, although Violet tends to display hidden signs of a nasty temper whenever it's not the Porter's turn for me to play. Oh well, on to Week 3!

Violet started off the week by heading to her new job as a Playground Moniter. Though she had to start at the bottom, she was determined to work her way up to the top as soon as possible, even if it meant having to deal with bratty kids who need a nap.

Jackson, as the stay-at-home father, spent most of his time painting. The rest of his time was filled with taking care of the toddler Brooke, but luckily she managed to amuse herself with toys for the most part.

By the end of the first day, Violet's hard work was already paying off, as well as that of the twins. Derek even managed to bring home a friend, proving he wasn't just working hard at his studies while at school.

Arthur tried to make some friends of his own as well. Though the bright-eyed visitor didn't seem to like Arthur's attempts at playing at first, he soon warmed up to him.

Despite the fact that Violet was no longer pregnant (and she had better not end up pregnant again - there are only two bedrooms in this small house, and right now the three kids are sharing one), she seemed to be having a little trouble balancing work and home, which led to some things being ignored, such as sleep.

Luckily for her, though, she wouldn't have to worry about changing diapers for much longer, since Brooke finally joined her brothers in the world of childhood. Though Derek's friend didn't seem particularly impressed, Brooke was certainly pleased with herself.

Brooke happily adjusted to being able to look her brothers in the eyes rather than the knees, although with their birthdays soon approaching it wouldn't last much longer.

Even though all his children now spent the day at school, Jackson wasn't ready to rush out and get a job (of course, that's partly because there aren't any more jobs unlocked yet). He was content with continuing to paint and enjoy his alone time. While painting one day, though, he came up with the perfect career that would allow him to retain his painting time: becoming the town's realtor. Even though his family seemed to be done growing, they still needed more space than a tiny, two-bedroom house could afford them. He decided to spend that week building up the funds necessary to purchase a bigger house, and, once that was accomplished, he would work on selling other houses to the old families of Woodhaven and any new ones that showed up.
(note: I came up with this idea because I wanted the Porter family to have a bigger house, but I really liked their cute one. So, I didn't want to knock it down and build a new one on this lot. Instead, I redecorated a Maxis one for them to move into once this week is over. Then, I figured I could give the Porters a 'plot,' first pertaining to saving up for a new house, and then Jackson's new job as realtor. I haven't figured out all the details, but I'm working on redoracting more Maxis houses so they're cheaper and more practical/prettier, and the Porters will get a certain amount of money every time a family moves into a new house rather than building their own. I'm not exactly sure what Jackson will do to make it seem like a job instead of free money, but hopefully I'll figure that out before their week comes up next)

Brooke proved to have just as much luck as her older brothers in brining home friends, and by the end of the first day she already had a great one.

Brooke's playdate was soon interrupted by her brother's birthdays, though. One of the brother's friends that they brought home was certainly shocked to see the child she had met that day suddenly bursting into a teenager, especially one with such horrible fashion sense.

Once he had changed into better clothes, Arthur began a personal quest to prove that he was the best oldest brother by being adorable and tucking his sister into bed.

Violet continued to do well at her job, although sickness seemed to be intent on derailing that hard work.
(note: this is the first sick Sim in Woodhaven, which means we just need two more and someone to study Physiology in order to unlock the Medical career)

Arthur brought home a friend of his own - he apparently was not only trying to be the better brother, but also the more popular one, which seemed to be working for him better during their teenage years, thanks to Derek becoming less social while his brother racked up more friends.
Brooke was merely concerned with getting good grades, though, something that her mother encouraged by helping her with her homework, just like Jackson had done with the twins.

It was a little difficult for Jackson to help Brooke with her homework, though, since Violet had given him the same illness she got. (note: second Sim, one more to go!)

The more Arthur got to know his new friend, the more it became apparent that he liked her as more than a friend. Luckily for him, she seemed to feel the same way.
(note: I played this a long time ago, and forgot to write her name day, so I can't remember what her name is. I know, I'm a horrible player and I could just start up the game quickly and go look it up, but I'm too lazy to do that right now. So, for now, she's simply Arthur's girlfriend - I will find her name out by the family's fourth week, so you'll know it then. Sorry!)

Arthur liked her so much that he invited her over again the next day, hoping that their relationship would continue to progress as it had done the previous day.

Luckily for Arthur, things progressed very nicely, and by the end of the afternoon she had agreed to go steady with him, making them the first official (and most adorable) couple of the new generation.

Arthur hadn't forgotten about his job as the good brother, though, and as soon as his new girlfriend left, Arthur joined his siblings at the pond, which had quickly become a family bonding spot.

Arthur wasn't the only one having luck with the ladies, though - things were still great between Violet and Jackson. Jackson continued to be spontaneous, although this kiss had a purpose - to celebrate the fact that they had bought a nice new house with three bedrooms, which they would be moving into the next day.

Arthur celebrated the news with his second-favorite girl (behind his girlfriend, of course).
That's it for this week, both for the Porters and Woodhaven in general. Next week the Porters will be in their brand new house, which isn't fully furnished yet because they ran out of money, but is lovely nonetheless.
Up next is Week 4 and the Bentley family. Before that, though, will be the Week 3 round-up post, which should be up sometime later today.
