The Dasani Legacy: 5.4

Last Time: Kevin and Ira grew up and we now have two terrifying teenagers and one who's smart and manages to stay out of trouble as a result. Melody continues to be the glue holding the family together by feeding everyone and keeping them from getting poisoned (most of the time). Ira tried to find love, but after he and Zoe alienated Elijah Médias, he learned that second time's the charm when he met Sydney Havenford. All the adults were just existing and making out with each other.

I don't know what happened, but I'm more liable to blame Zoe than Kevin, that's for sure.
Zoe: *looks innocent - well, emotionless, that's the closest she's going to get to innocence*

Old love does not equal no love, as Melody proved with a morning serenade to her husband.

When Ira is in love, he's too preoccupied to think about being scary, so obviously Sydney had to come back around.

Yeah, nothing else is going to hold Ira's attention like this blue-haired beauty.

Kevin: I want love - or at least attention. Can I have attention?
Sorry, too busy imaging your brother and Sydney's future wedding instead.

Zoe doesn't have anyone romantic in her life, but she's not going to let that or zits get in the way of loving herself. She might be scary, but her self-esteem is quite admirable and jealousy-causing.

Kevin doesn't have a mirror to keep his attention, though, nor does he have an admirable ego, so he went to the train station instead.

Neve: Why are you on the computer and not paying attention to me?

Hmm, I can see where Zoe inherited her egotism from.

Luckily for Neve, Eb can't bare to say no to his wife.

I got tired of Neve's long, kind of stringy hair, so she got a little makeover, but kept her bright red eyeshadow because it's part of her now.

Both she and Eb seem to appreciate the new look, but that's no surprise.

Zoe doesn't spend all her time plotting and admiring her reflection, though - she does have love in her heart for something living, even if it's just plants.

Cousins who do homework together get good grades together?

Everyone seems to enjoy the piano, but no one but the elderly Melody was brave enough to fix it.

My brave, brave Melody - let's go get you a nice bandage or something, stay away from the mean piano.

Melody: At least everyone loves me.

Melody: Not like my mom - why was everyone so hard on my mom?

Because she was constantly chasing after your grandfather?

This is Neve's mother - great parenting, trying to guilt your adult daughter with children (well, a child) of her own into talking to you.

Also, thanks to Melody, the piano is back in commission!

The zits are spreading, but that's not the only reason Ira is pouting. I think all the time he's been spending with Sydney has made him a bit soft - all of Zoe's antics seem to be confounding him.

Zoe: You're a good opponent - and by good, I mean easy to trick.

What has these two bonding and laughing together? Well, their version of bonding?

Their brother/cousin dancing, apparently.

Oh, come on, this is wonderful grandmother-grandson bonding, leave him alone!

The train is very popular among the family, beside the piano, of course.

And making out, apparently - once again, this is the main thing that these two couples do. Melody does all the bonding with the children.

Ooh, look, it's Ghostly Eli! I guess talk of his wife has brought him back from beyond the grave.

Success for Melody! It took a while, but she is officially a celebrity chef - she's officially be keeping her family fed with gourmet meals for the foreseeable future.

The end of the teenage years are nigh as Zoe heads off to college. She needs a little time on her own so that she can plot before her cousins arrive.

The only person who came out to send her off was her uncle. Perhaps you should have been a little nicer to everyone?

Zoe: Nope, I'm actually quite good with this.

And where are her parents?

Is anyone surprised?

And now we have a ghostly Christie, checking in on things - and hoping from a visit from a certain father-in-law?

I don't think we have his grave, though - I think Scot died before I had to recreate everyone back when I installed the Ultimate Collection years ago. Or is he still around? We'll have to wait and see, I suppose.

Um, who are you dreaming about, Melody? Your husband is still around, you know.

And why are you staring at your sleeping grandmother, Kevin? You're the one who's supposed to be the nice, normal one, aren't you?
Maybe this whole generation is a frightening bunch.

Oh no. O.o All the talk of Christie has made Neve notice her brother-in-law. Think of the husband you love making out with, not Marley!

Thank god she's not bi - then no one in this house would be safe.

Also, STAY AWAY FROM YOUR FATHER-IN-LAW!

Neve: But I'm still thinking about woohooing. What do I do know?

Um, go look for the one man you're actually in a relationship with?

Neve: Ooh, good idea - Eb!

See? It's the center of this family.

Looking at the family through the window - it's a nice portrait, isn't it?

Lee: Why aren't you paying attention to me? Who cares about your brother anyway?

Apparently Marley and Eb have the same taste in romantic partners.

Lee: And now you're talking to our son? What about me?!

Poor, poor Lee.

See? The family is eating well with a celebrity chef as the matriarch.

I don't think we've ever had so many nice family dinners before Melody started running things.

Ira hasn't seen his girlfriend in days - it's starting to show.

Luckily for everyone around him, Ira and Kevin are heading off to college to join their cousin. This time, Neve notices - too bad she didn't when it was her own CHILD.

Neve: Bye, Ira!

He's not that - oh, why bother. Thank you for actually noticing someone without any romantic notions, Neve.

This time, the twins get everyone to send them off - maybe because one of the twins is Kevin?

Lee: Wait, where did they go? What's happening?

Neve is rubbing off on you, isn't she?

Notes:
- Obviously, college is up next, and since Ira is more pleasant when Sydney is around, she's joining the twins and Zoe on an empty lot that will hopefully become a home by the time they graduate.
